Tips For A Healthy Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving To All!

What cancer prevention tips can we share on this special day?

Rather than focus on whether the turkey is "free range," or the sweet potatoes, "organic" -  today - focus on all you have to be thankful for.

First, if you have not had cancer, give thanks!  Second, if you have, give thanks that you are here to read this blog entry!

Stress has been shown, in at least one study, to increase the risk of cancer.

How do we de-stress?

 Give Thanks!

Take a moment to write down 20 things you are thankful for this year.  If 2007 has been a difficult year, start the list with having an adequate amount of toilet paper on hand!  When I feel stressed, I start a list of 10 things in this fashion.  Before I finish - I am usually laughing so hard I forget what I was stressed about in the first place.  If you want to go further, take the time to address notes to three friends/family members/coworkers/others in your life, and  write a quick note discussing 2 things about him or her that added joy to your life this year.

Life here on earth is short.  With everything you do - ask yourself if it is improving your character, or building up those you love - and listen.

We can't guarantee it will lower your risk of cancer...but we hope it will instill that sense of thankfulness -that lowers stress levels in your own body, while at the same time, perhaps, helping another!
